More than twenty INDESCAT members have participated in the innovation tour organised by the cluster to learn first-hand about some of the most innovative technological solutions applicable to the sports field. During the tour, we discovered how the latest trends in LED screens, interactive experiences, digital signage and immersive solutions can transform sectors such as fitness, sporting events and eSports.

The Catalan Hockey Federation has undergone a major transformation over the years, driving both the growth and modernisation of the sport in the country. According to Martí Lloveras, a member of the federation's board of directors, ‘Catalan hockey is going through a historic moment, with a record number of licences, gender parity and streaming broadcasts of all categories. We have made a very important leap in digitalisation, equality and inclusion, adapting to social and technological changes’. Looking to the immediate future, Lloveras points out that the main challenges are to ‘expand our sport throughout the country, strengthen the clubs and take technological innovation to the highest level in order to remain at the forefront’.

In the cluster we believe in the importance of bringing emerging talent to the sports industry. For this reason, we offer companies the opportunity to incorporate interns from the knowledge centres that are part of the cluster: Blanquerna, Cruyff Institute, ESEI, EUNCET Business School, Fundación TecnoCampus, INEFC, UAB, UB, University of Vic, UPF-BSM. If your company is looking for new profiles eager to learn and add value in the sports sector, now you have the opportunity to incorporate talent that adapts to the needs of your team.

Improving the sustainability of sports centres with aquatic facilities. This is one of the main objectives of BCN Water Solutions, the new project that seeks to understand their needs and challenges in order to identify opportunities for improvement in the responsible use of water, energy efficiency and the experience of users of sports facilities. Behind this initiative are Barcelona City Council, Fluidra, a global leader in equipment and connected solutions for the pool sector, and INDESCAT, the Catalan sports industry cluster.

INDESCAT has started the year with a co-creation workshop focused on designing the fitness centers of the future, with the participation of 11 cluster members. This session, organized in collaboration with Elisava, is part of the IRC “LivingLab-Fit” project, led by INDESCAT and the AMBIT Cluster and co-financed by ACCIÓ.

We interviewed Jordi Torras, CEO of Rungie. The company has developed the innovative platform Overgie, which helps brands, clubs and content creators to identify and engage their followers, converting them into consumers and generating sustainable revenue. ‘Our innovative community ranking system and ‘Smart Monetisation’ tools turn engagement into sustainable revenue, gamifying the user experience and strengthening communities.’ Rungie's CEO explains that this solution is key at a time when the main challenge is not to grow on social media, but to transform engagement into valuable digital assets.
