On 28 October, INDESCAT held the 2nd CIRCUESPORT Workshop, a collaborative working session to validate the draft of the Practical Guide to Circularity and Eco-design, aimed at companies in the sports equipment industry. The meeting, held at the Thinking Room at Fabrick Gràcia, brought together companies involved in the design, manufacturing and marketing of sports products and equipment to review the guide's contents and ensure they address the sector's actual needs.
During the session, the draft guide was presented for the first time, and participants worked together to identify opportunities for improvement, share best practices and explore ways of incorporating circularity and eco-design strategies into products and business processes. The workshop also provided an opportunity to discuss the main barriers to implementing these measures and assess their technical and economic feasibility.
The contributions from participating companies were particularly valuable in assessing the proposed solutions against the sector's real needs, identifying potential courses of action and enriching the guide with first-hand industry experience and knowledge. The session also encouraged the exchange of experiences and helped identify potential synergies and collaboration opportunities among the different stakeholders in the ecosystem.
This second workshop builds on the work initiated last April, when INDESCAT organised an initial exploratory session to assess the state of circularity in the sports equipment sector, identify its main barriers and opportunities, and share success stories and solutions that could be implemented in the short and medium term. With this new validation phase, the project is moving towards the publication of a resource designed to provide companies with practical guidance and concrete solutions to develop more circular, sustainable and competitive product models.
The CIRCUESPORT project will reach the culmination of this stage with the official presentation of the Practical Guide to Circularity and Eco-design on 2 December. The document will bring together the work carried out throughout the project, the strategies identified and the contributions made by participating companies, with the aim of becoming a reference resource for driving the transition towards a circular sports equipment industry.
CIRCUESPORT is a project led by INDESCAT, in collaboration with AFYDAD and inèdit, with the support of seven companies and organisations from the sector and co-funded by the Waste Agency of Catalonia (Agència de Residus de Catalunya, ARC).
Through this initiative, INDESCAT reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and innovation in the sports industry by promoting business collaboration and providing tools to help companies incorporate circularity and eco-design criteria into product development.
