A group of Catalan companies from the fitness sports sector and institutions are currently participating in a mission in London to explore the opportunities offered by the British market and learn good practices to promote physical activity.
The London Fitness Tour, as this mission is called, has been organized by INDESCAT, in collaboration with UK Active and the support of ACCIÓ. Is made up by more than 4000 active members and partners from all over the United Kingdom.
During the visit, which started on Tuesday 20th November and ends on Thursday, Catalan companies and institutions have participated in a seminar by UK Active on good practices and have made guided visits to various types of facilities and sports centers.
The seminar on good practices took place on Tuesday November 20 at the UK Active offices. The entity's mission is to configure the sector of physical activity to reduce sedentary lifestyle, both increasing the number of sports practitioners, and the number of hours of practice. In this seminar the organizations have been able to know an initial study on the recommendation of doctors to prescribe sports, from a sample of 165,000 people. Areas such as good practices to promote physical activity and services that the entity offers to member companies have also been addressed.
Yesterday, the participants in the mission were able to learn, from experience, the most avant-garde and innovative boutique centers and some sports stores. Today, Thursday, they will visit a public sports center, a luxury one and a medium type chain.
Specifically, companies and entities have visited the First Light Cycle boutique; Barry's Bootcamp at the west of London; KXU, in the Kensington neighborhood; Barrecore, in Chealsea; Elevation 2.0 at Third Space, Soho; and Another Space, in the Convent Garden. In the latter the participants in the mission have been able to take classes to learn first-hand the experience in this type of centers.
As for the facilities, the most outstanding visits are the public center Kensington Leisure Center (in GLL site), the luxury center Equinox, in Kensington; and the centers chain of Blaze at David Lloyds.
Most of the companies and entities that participate in the mission are members of INDESCAT: Aerobic & Fitness, the City Council of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, the Consell Català de l'Esport, Eurofitness, Salter, Tecnosport, Grupo sintagmia, Agenda Sports & Elements and Alimmenta. The non-member company Benito Deportes has also participated.
