The Entrepreneur's Day in Sport celebrated yesterday its second edition with the attendance of 130 entrepreneurs, investors, managers and other agents of the sports start-up ecosystem. The day, which took place in the auditorium of the Cibernàrium of Barcelona Activa, included presentations on the sports industry, technology and innovation; round tables and an Investment Forum in which six emerging companies from the field of sport participated. The Entrepreneur's Day in Sport is part of INDESUP!, the sports entrepreneurship program organized by INDESCAT with the collaboration of ICEB and Land Sport Law and with the support of the Generalitat of Catalonia and Barcelona Activa.
Anna Pruna, president of INDESCAT - the Catalan sports cluster - inaugurated the Entrepreneur's Day in Sport, appealing to collaboration between start-ups and consolidated companies: "Companies must go beyond the benefits; follow values and keep the passion for our projects ". Gerard Figueras, Secretary General of the Sports Department of the Generalitat of Catalonia, also insisted on the need to promote synergies among all the agents involved in the sports sector and to enhance the talent of entrepreneurs from both the public and private sphere: "Actually, entrepreneurship is an attitude inherent to the sport and the athlete. "
The morning session continued with the conference by Xesco Espar, former coach of FC Barcelona handball and specialist in leadership and team management, who spoke about the importance that teamwork has in sport and also in entrepreneurship: "The performance of a team-whether in a club or in a company-depends on two things: the structure or work system and the values of that work. It is not the same a group or a team, so I would recommend the entrepreneurs to invest the first income that they have to strengthen their team. "
The block dedicated to sport and innovation was opened by Xavier Balius, director of Science, Medicine and Technology of the CAR of Sant Cugat, who explained how from this high-performance center they have been developing all sorts of projects for the coaches to have the best technological tools. Mounir Zok, former director of the technology department of the United States Olympic Committee and founder of th consultancy N3xt Sports, analyzed how technologies are revolutionizing the world of sports. Zok, who has recently settled in Barcelona, also encouraged big companies to bet decisively on innovation: "In Europe it is very difficult for a start-up to access the manager of a large company to be its partner. We want to help companies open the doors to innovation and understand what it really means to innovate".
The Entrepreneur's Day in Sport also included a presentation on financing by Joaquim López, from the investment platform The Crowd Angel; two round tables on start-up ecosystem and, in the afternoon session, the second edition of the Sports Entrepreneur Forum, in which six start-ups of the sports field were able to present their projects before a group of investors.
