INSHAPE is a European project funded by the European Commission, aiming to create a European Innovation Hub to promote sports and physical activity among European society.
The project will support SMEs by providing funding and services to facilitate their market access during the commercialization and expansion phases.
The total budget for the INSHAPE project exceeds €9.5 million, with the goal of reaching more than fifty SMEs through direct funding and over one hundred indirectly.
In addition to INDESCAT and ACCIÓ, the Catalan Government’s Agency for Business Competitiveness, the initiative includes participation from around twenty partners across different European regions.
As a society, we face the challenge of encouraging and maintaining an active lifestyle among individuals. Additionally, the sports sector must tackle challenges to become more competitive as an industry. Smart technology helps us address these challenges and seize economic and social opportunities in today’s globalized world.
The INSHAPE project aims to strengthen the economy by accelerating innovation investments related to sports and technology and facilitating the market entry of projects by connecting the various European regions involved in the initiative.
Thanks to INSHAPE, SMEs in the pre-commercialization phase will receive support to identify and seize opportunities in a fast-evolving global market.
The project, coordinated by the Sports and Technology cluster from the Netherlands, has a total budget of over €9.5 million, with 70% co-funded by the European Commission (under the I3 program). This financial boost aims to establish an INSHAPE Innovation and Investment Hub, where companies, knowledge institutions, and public administrations can collaborate on innovations that promote a healthier and more active lifestyle, even beyond the project’s duration.
INSHAPE, which runs for three years, started in September 2023 and includes more than twenty partners from seven European regions across five countries: the Netherlands, Belgium, Hungary, Finland, and Spain.
INDESCAT will lead WP3 (Work Package 3) of the project, which focuses on supporting over fifty innovative SMEs. Among these, around 24 will receive direct funding through an open call for grants.
