INDESCAT and the Barcelona Sports Hub are co-organising a dedicated programme within the Més esport, més BCNESTAR conference, taking place on 1 and 2 December. The event aims to contribute to the shared commitment to making Barcelona a more active, sports-oriented and healthy city.

The conference will address Barcelona's future challenges and opportunities in sport, healthy lifestyles and quality of life, taking into account the social, demographic and urban transformations the city is experiencing and will continue to face.

Across four thematic sessions, participants will explore how changes in the social and economic structure, evolving lifestyles, an ageing population and increasingly diverse life journeys shape sports participation and health promotion. Discussions will also examine how sports policies can be adapted to meet citizens' changing needs, considering aspects such as mental health, different stages of life and new ways of using time.

The conference will also focus on innovation and entrepreneurship in sport, exploring emerging trends, solutions and opportunities to improve people's health and well-being, while reflecting on the growing dependence on technology in sports participation. This session will include presentations of projects and entrepreneurial initiatives with transformative potential.

Finally, discussions will address Barcelona's role in creating an environment that encourages active and healthy lifestyles, examining the influence of urban planning, public spaces, sports facilities and collaboration between public administrations, organisations and industry stakeholders.

Overall, the conference aims to provide a space for reflection and debate on how to address future challenges and move towards a more active, healthy, sustainable and inclusive city model, where sport becomes a key tool for improving the quality of life of all citizens.
